Electronic Mailing
List--Coming Soon!
Our electronic mailing list is a quick way to broadcast information
or ask a question within the program. The list is a network of subscribers
who can post a single e-mail that is sent to all who are a part
of the system. The wealth of information available through this
tool is immeasurable, and the opportunities to learn are infinite.
The list is maintained by staff at the the Contra Costa County Office
of Education and is strictly for those who are participating in
the Contra Costa County/Saint Mary's College BTSA Induction program.
Electronic Mailing List Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What is an electronic mailing list and why
do I want to join one?
A: An electronic mailing list enables you to send
an e-mail message to one address and have that e-mail message broadcast
to everyone on a particular e-mail list. It is a simple, convenient
way to share information and resources.
Q: What do I need to participate?
A: All you need is an e-mail account. You may use
your school district e-mail account, a private account with a provider
like AOL, or an online, Web-based account with a provider like Yahoo
or Hotmail.
Q: Must I be participating in the BTSA program
to be on the list?
A: Yes.
Q: What kinds of things can be posted on the
list?
A: First of all, the list is great for sharing
resources. Share newspaper articles, Web sites, ideas -- we can
all learn from each other. Secondly, the list provides a forum
to have friendly conversations with your colleagues. Whatever
your question, somebody in the program has been there, done that,
and will be happy to tell you about it. Pooling our collective
experience, talent, and wisdom helps us all do a better job.
Q: Can I attach documents to my e-mail messages?
A: Given the number of people using the list, anything
other than very short attachments are not recommended. If formatting
is not an issue, paste the text of your attachment into the body
of your e-mail message. If formatting is important, post the document
on your school or office Web site and provide the URL.
Q: Are messages posted to the list private?
A: There is no guarantee of privacy on the list,
however, only BTSA program members are eligible to use the list. We
hope members will treat information posted to the list as confidential.
Q: Does the list run 24 hours a day?
A: Yes.
